In the 50's we used to go out to Dracut Speedway on the Black North Rd. to the jolopy races. It was beside the Haven restaurant, which is now the Dracut Civic Club.
A neighbor who drove for Hart Ambulance would take us out and we watch the races from the pit As the story goes a wheel came off one of the jolopys and killed a woman and that was the end of the races. There is a shopping center there now and also Tony and Ann's pizza reopened there.
