Lowell Open Studios 2013

Lowell Open Studios appeared to be a great success this year. All of the venues I visited yesterday were crowded and active notwithstanding the rain. Those I spoke with who attended on Saturday said the crowds were even bigger.

The city has developed an amazing concentration of artists. Consider all the sites involved in Open Studios:

All Arts Gallery at 307 Market Street
Gates Block Studios at 307 Market Street
Appleton Mills at 219 Jackson Street
Market Mills at 256 Market Street
Brush Gallery at 256 Market Street (which was forced to remain closed due to Federal Government shutdown)
The Whistler House Museum of Art at 243 Worthen Street
Western Avenue Studios and Lofts at Western Avenue

These places and the artists who exhibited their work at them each have their own hours. The COOL website is a good place to go to find links to relevant websites. Certainly as the holidays approach in December, all will be open for extended hours. There really is an amazing assortment of art of all styles and price ranges. Please support those creative individuals who live and work in our community.
