Walking Tour Doubleheader this Weekend

James MacNeill Whistler by Mico Kaufman

We’re fortunate to have two interesting Lowell walks this coming weekend.

On Saturday, August 22, 2015, Jim Dyment, the executive director of the Brush Art Gallery will lead our regularly scheduled Lowell Walks.  The topic: Lowell Artists, Past and Present.  As always, the tour will begin at 10 am at the National Park Visitor Center on Market Street.  Here’s what Jim has posted on Facebook about his plans for the tour:

Getting ready for my Lowell Walks tour on Saturday (Rain or Shine) Bring your umbrella! We will be touring The Brush Art Gallery & Studios, Lowell City Hall, Arts League of Lowell – ALL, Whistler House Museum of Art / Lowell Art Association, Inc., and more… Starting time is 10 AM at the Visitor Center on Market Street

Then on Sunday, we’re fortunate to have a unique, Ranger-led tour from the National Park Service.  Called Pawtucket Power Tour, this 3 mile, round-trip walk will begin at the Boott Cotton Mills entrance at 11 am on Sunday, August 23, 2015.  The walk will proceed along the Riverwalk and the Northern Canal Walkway to the Pawtucket Gatehouse at the head of the Northern Canal (adjacent to the O’Donnell Bridge) for a look inside the gatehouse.

Both tours are free and require no advance registration.  Just show up, rain or shine, ready to walk.
