Planning Workshop #2 for ‘Next Initiative’/Canalway Vitality

The second planning workshop for Lowell’s Next Initiative/Canalway Vitality is set for Thursday, March 10, 5.30 pm, at the UMass Lowell Innovation Hub, 110 Canal St., in the Hamilton Canal District. Parking will be available in the adjacent lot as well as in the Early Garage on Jackson St. A light supper will be served.

Working groups on Tourism, Economic Development, and Culture will regroup to continue the discussions. The workshop is open to all. It’s okay if you did not attend the first session. The objective is to explore and identify ways to increase the visibility of the unique Lowell canal system and encourage more activity along the canals, including the public- and private-sector spaces bordering the waterways.

City Manager Kevin Murphy, the Lowell City Council, and City planning staff are collaborating with the Lowell Heritage Partnership board of directors on this planning initiative. Enterprise Bank is a contributing sponsor. Workshop leaders are all graduates of Lowell’s Public Matters leadership development program, which is co-sponsored by the Lowell Plan Inc. and National Park Service.
