Leo Farley was elected
mayor on the third ballot, edging out Howe who had four votes on all
three ballots. Newcomer Donald Scott switched to Farley after
voting for himself on the prior two ballots.

City Manager Paul Sheehy
left office in October 1975. He was replaced by former Holyoke
Mayor William Taupier.

The total vote was
26,544, 68% of those registered.

Incumbent city councilor
Robert Kennedy was elected state representative in the prior year and
did not seek re-election to the city council.

Incumbent school
committee member Wayne Peters ran for city council and topped the
ticket (and did not seek re-election to the school committee).

Katherine Stoklosa
topped the school committee ticket, followed by Patricia Molloy,
Clement McDonough, George Khouloheras, Daniel Kane and William Kirwin.
