  • Leo Farley was elected mayor on the third ballot, edging out Howe who had four votes on all three ballots.  Newcomer Donald Scott switched to Farley after voting for himself on the prior two ballots.

  • City Manager Paul Sheehy left office in October 1975.  He was replaced by former Holyoke Mayor William Taupier.

  • The total vote was 26,544, 68% of those registered.

  • Incumbent city councilor Robert Kennedy was elected state representative in the prior year and did not seek re-election to the city council.

  • Incumbent school committee member Wayne Peters ran for city council and topped the ticket (and did not seek re-election to the school committee).

  • Katherine Stoklosa topped the school committee ticket, followed by Patricia Molloy, Clement McDonough, George Khouloheras, Daniel Kane and William Kirwin.
