finished 10th in the prior election, filled the balance of Rourke's
term, but failed to win re-election in this election.

(the father of successful newcomer Curtis LeMay) and Richard O'Malley
did not seek re-election.

Newcomer Gerald Durkin
won a council seat while serving on the school committee. He did
not seek re-election to the school committee.

committee member David Allen did not seek re-election to the school
committee, but ran for the city council, finishing 20th in the primary
election.

Both council incumbents
who lost, Kathleen Kelley and Gus Coutu, had both served on the school
committee before being elected to the city council.

Former city councilors
Wayne Peters and George Anthes unsuccessfully sought to rejoin the
council in this election.

On the school committee,
newcomers Kathleen Janas, Mary Anna Sullivan and Sean Sullivan (not
related) joined incumbents George Kouloheras, Kathryn Stoklosa and
Regina Faticanti.
