Notes

  • Incumbents Grady Mulligan and Larry Martin were defeated.  Martin had finished tenth in the prior election, but took office when Dan Leahy resigned to take an assistant clerk's position at the Charlestown District Court.

  • Incumbent Peter Richards did not seek re-election.

  • Eileen Donahue was elected to a second term as mayor.  

  • City Manager Brian Martin resigned in June 2000.  John Cox was elected city manager.

  • On the school committee, newcomers Connie Martin (daughter of Larry) and John McQuaid joined incumbents Tim Golden, Regina Faticanti, Kevin McHugh and Joe Mendonca who had joined the committee when Kathryn Stoklosa passed away.

  • Incumbent school committee member George Kouloheras was defeated.
