-
Incumbent Richard Howe did not
seek re-election after serving twenty consecutive two year terms.
-
Tenth place finisher Kevin
Broderick joined the council when Rithy Uong resigned in August 2005 as
a result of a claim brought by the state ethics commission that he had
wrongly accepted a promotion from guidance councilor to housemaster at
Lowell High School while he served on the city council.
-
Within three weeks of the
election, it appeared that Bill Martin had the votes to be elected
mayor. John Cox continued as city manager.

incumbents Jackie Doherty, Regina Faticanti, John Leahy, Kevin McHugh
& Connie Martin on the school committee.
-
Incumbent school committee
member Joe Mendonca ran for city council (he finished tenth) and did not seek
re-election to the school committee. |
